Tampere Islamic Society is the main organization representing Muslim population in  Tampere region. The association was established in April 1994. In 1998, it was registered officially as a religious association.

Tampere is the second largest city in Finland with a population of around 200,000 inhabitants. The Muslim population in the region is estimated at 3500, most of them are non native Finns.

The association's goal is to serve the Muslim population by running the city’s Mosque and by providing basic services related to worship.
